Michael Breen is Head of Strategic Initiatives at Anthropic, PBC, where his work focuses on expanding and accelerating the transformative benefits of the technology for everyone. Before joining Anthropic, he served as President & CEO of Human Rights First, a US-based organization defending human dignity and freedom around the world. Previously, Breen advanced policy on a range of national security, energy, climate, and technology issues as President & CEO of the Center for National Policy and the Truman National Security Project, served in the Obama administration’s Office of White House Counsel, and co-founded the International Refugee Assistance Project, an award-winning global legal aid and advocacy organization. He began his career as a U.S. Army officer, leading American soldiers in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Breen holds an AB from Dartmouth and a JD from Yale Law School.
